Shepherds

Elder

Corky & Ruth Ann Brown

It was a blessing to us when our good friends invited us to come to Creekside about 10 years ago. Love, service, and commitment are the hallmarks we saw here. We pray that our work will continue to help spread the Word as we touch lives throughout this community.
Elder

Larry & Holly McRae

“My wife Holly and I moved to Midlothian in 2008 to be near two of our four children and ten of our 12 grandchildren.  Prior to retiring, I was the Operations Vice-President for Nexen Petroleum U.S.A. He received his B.S. Petroleum Engineering degree at Texas Tech University and spent his career developing and operating oil properties in the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.  When he isn’t monitoring the stock market on the computer, he spends time tending to his Black Angus cattle.”

Larry’s career periodically required moving his family to different cities where his family served the local church.  His family participated in establishing a new church in Aberdeen, Scotland. He has served as Deacon at Singing Oaks Church in Denton, Texas and he has served 5 years as an Elder at Creekside.

Larry and Holly have a deep love for God and His word, and enjoy serving Him and the church at Creekside.  They love Creekside and believe this church reaches out to it’s members and serves this community. 1 Peter 1:8-9 expresses their sentiments: “Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Elder

Stan & Bonnie Moore

Creekside is family, and we mean that in all the positive ways that one would imagine as we seek to live in a community together.  I love that we are constantly striving for an authentic, unvarnished relationship with each other, and with our God. I truly feel the Holy Spirit at work here, and we are so blessed to be a part of this family.

Elder

Jeff & Brenda Holland

Brenda, my wife, and I became empty-nesters in the summer of 2023. Coming to Creekside in 2009, we quickly found our whole family growing in faith and being active in many aspects of church life. We have been blessed to serve hand-in-hand with Creekside for local and global ministry so that God is glorified.
Elder

John & Ann Wilson

My wife Ann and I have been blessed to call Creekside our home since 2011.  The genuine love for God and His family are evident each time we meet together as a family or small groups.  Our desire is to seek God’s will in all we do here that He may be glorified and people in Midlothian and throughout the world will come to know Christ as their Savior

Deacons

Deacon of Hospitality

Jim Smith

My wife Pat and I have been married since 1982 and live in Lancaster. We have two grown sons and seven grandchildren. We love our role at Creekside as greeters. Each Sunday we get to welcome members and visitors. It is our mission to help everyone feel welcomed and to share the love of God. We also love taking care of Creekside’s prayer garden nestled along the creek behind the Sanctuary. It is a peaceful retreat and ideal for prayer and reflection.

Deacon of Missions

Josh McSpadden

I have been leading Team Engage since 2019. We function as the local and global missions committee and are passionate about engaging our entire church in the redemptive work God is doing in Ellis county and abroad. I moved to Midlothian with my wife and three children in 2017 to start my medical practice. My anchor Stephanie has been married to me for 13 years, and our kiddos Hannah, Barrett, and Makayla keep us quick on our feet. The reality of my helplessness trying to do life my way coupled with God’s faithfulness and love towards me even at my worst drove me to a deeper zeal to get to know Him more.

Deacon of Adult Ministries

Wes Thornton

As the leader of Adult Education at Creekside, I coordinate our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening classes. We are blessed to have a number of gifted teachers at Creekside. The challenging part is arranging schedules and discerning the best studies for each class. I also try to promote new specialty classes such as parenting, marriage, and 12-step classes. We hope to eventually offer classes for specific group needs such as new Christians who are just learning the stories and lessons in the Bible.

My wife, Jane, and I have been married for thirty-four years. Jane heads up the Wild for the Word ministry and assists with children’s worship. We have an adult son, Matthew, married to Amanda, and an adult daughter, Meredith. Jane and I have been members of this church family for over thirty years. We’ve assisted and led many ministries, and we are especially excited about the future that we see on the horizon for this congregation. We pray that God will continue to allow us to participate where His Spirit is working in this community.

Deacon of Security

Mark Gonzales

My wife, Lois, and I became members of Creekside in 2003, when the church was still called Rolling Hills and meeting in Desoto. Joining this congregation was one of the greatest new beginnings to our lives. Our daughter, Alexis, was baptized at age 14 among our Creekside family. I became a police officer for the city of Dallas in 2002, which quickly opened my eyes to how fragile life is. It didn’t happen overnight, but God has led me to realize that he blessed me with the gift of loving people who are sometimes experiencing the worst moments in their lives. Sometimes our conversations are held in the back of a police cruiser on the way to jail, but I am afforded a unique opportunity to share my faith and relationship with Jesus, which are meaningful to all involved. As with my career as a police officer, my goal as the Security Team Deacon is to lead and follow a team of members who will protect our family at all cost so that they can worship, praise and learn in the safety Creekside.
